Agapanthus Africanus Blue or Agapanthus is a perennial outdoor herbaceous plant, also known as African Lily from which it derives its origin and belonging to the Liliaceae family. It is an evergreen plant with a bushy habit and has ribbon-like leaves up to 15-20 centimetres long, bright green and very dense and arranged in a rosette. In summer, the plant develops long stems in the centre of the rosette, up to more than 1 metre high, at the top of which are large, bell-shaped, white flowers in clusters. Agapanthus does not require much care and is resistant to low temperatures, making it ideal for creating colourful flowerbeds or borders, but can also be grown in containers; it prefers sunny locations but can also be grown in areas where half-shade prevails. It requires fertile, rich and well drained soil with regular watering during the warm season and reduced watering in winter, always avoiding water stagnation.
